Only music, no dancing, Wednesday at Ramapo College

For those who might be planning to attend the tango performance at Ramapo College this Wednesday (September 18,) please note this change

Note from Marta Bautis

Hi, Sue:

I spoke with Octavio this afternoon and I told him about our plans to dance tango on the stage after their performance. Unfortunately, he didn't agree with the idea. He said his other group is more suitable for dancing, and that the pieces that the Urban Tango Trio will perform may not be.

I am really sorry, I was looking forward to see the Firehouse milongueros on the stage, but we couldn't reach an agreement. He said he was hoping all of you would understand, and that he would like to have your support to listen to their performance.

I would appreciate if you send an e-mail to your newsletter list, I would like them to be informed if they planning to go.

Gracias! See you next week,

Marta

Second chance for traditional Jewish feast

Jewish New Year feast  - Repeat this Thursday, September 19 (We will also celebrate Walter and Gay's anniversary)

Last Thursday, September 12, we planned to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, at Firehouse Tango.  As is our tradition, some of our tangueros judeos (and others who just wanted to contribute something) volunteered to make a traditional meal for our Firehouse friends.  Some folks tried very hard but just couldn't get there.  We will give them another chance this week.

The Cortinas

For last week's playlist, which of course wasn't used, I found some great cortinas appropriate for the Jewish new year.  Listen for them this Thursday

The menu (so far):

Sue Dallon       Corned beef brisket with Jewish rye bread and salad

Judy Assisi and Herb Goodfried    Sephardic Dried Fruit Compote Dessert

Judy Saul                  Holiday rice

Jack Block                Tsimmes

Bonny Yankauer        Crackers and pickled herring

Norma Arias              Roasted carrots and fennel

Eva Roth                    Noodle kugel

Naum and Slava        Deviled eggs  (I hope)
