TERRI's FIREHOUSE TANGO-MILONGA II
MESSAGE FROM TERRI:
Dear Friends and Members:
As the nicer weather begins to peek its' way through the grey chilling curtains of clouds and we start to venture out into the sunshine; it is time to begin planning for a return to enjoying our lives.
Prepare yourselves to restore our Thursday night camaraderie. Envision yourself as the first Tango dancer to bravely break the ice on our newly polished dance floor.
Abandon all the anxieties we experienced as it will soon be behind us. Let it remain in the past. It is unwelcome into our future.
Several of us had loved ones who suffered from terminal diseases that took them from us much too early in life, yet they did not withdraw from us.
I for one remember men in our community who showed up sometimes in pain, discomfort and not quite up to it, yet by sheer will defied it and gave us a life lesson to recall.
Even after they passed on, they insisted that we live on, in tribute to their memory and not be debilitated by grief or paralyzed by fear of the unknown.
It is in this spirit that we'll not forget our losses, but we embrace the will to live a higher quality of life, in the here and now. Without apology, without excuses.
So together, let us set the tone, the mindset, and conceive a positive outlook through what may be one of the bleakest of times, but realize we are stronger by facing it together, because we are a community that not only share our passion for Tango but also our loyalty to friends, both absent and present.
Imagine, the lights are dim, the ambiance is sultry, the music stirs, the air resonates with power, and an elegant couple step onto the dance floor, and then another, and then another follows, and what was once an empty airspace, is now alive and vibrant once again.
You can almost touch it, as each fearlessly embrace the other. Each courageously extends an inviting hand, gently accepted by the other. They rise, meld into one, elegantly gliding across the floor, as if a wisp, with not so much as a wit of worry in the world, drawn together by mutual trust and respect that empowers one to the other.
You can almost see it, how they forget everything else, for that brief moment in time, everything fades to black. This is the power of Tango.
You can almost taste it. That is what we can hope to expect on our grand re-opening and revival, together.
