It is these thousand acts of friendship and gallant gestures why we are so popular and a fun place to be. The word is spreading that we are the "best Milonga in Bergen County".
Must make mention of the unstoppable die-hards, who will keep dancing to the last minute, of the last note, of the last song. The first rule of Firehouse Tango-Milonga II is never stop dancing.
Notice how our first timers are becoming all-timers. Keep inviting and welcoming anyone who is a new face to you. It is just what we do and how we are.
Welcoming to our team of guest DJ's was "Cee Q" [aka Carlos Quiroga]. Take a bow. He conjured up magical Tandas and mystical sounds that levitated our Tangueros to appear as if dancing on a misty cloud.
I am subscribing the names of so many folks interested in learning Tango. They seek us out and find us through social media, word of mouth, and even Yelp Ads. Others may have telephone or telegraph, but we have tell-a-tanguero.
Kudos to all of you who are picking up on the art of "Tango seduction". The dance begins with the eyes, then posture, self- confidence and coyness. Karina Romero and Jorge Carmona's module of instruction are very informative. Be of a courtly manner.
Take advantage of our instructors, and lend them your ear and attention. Their time is short and we want to get all we can from them. Be courteous.
**"Tango Etiquette": In the art of Tango seduction, it is more than steps and moves, but mastering courtly conduct also. It projects an air of confidence but tempered by impeccable good manners.
Tango encourages our guys to "coax" the lady onto the dance floor, to "court" her , "beguile" her, "win" her into his masculine embrace. The gentleman is dashing, the lady is hesitantly demure.
First and foremost, it is always the ladies feminine discretion over her level of resistance before she is persuaded. In Tango, the gentleman has to win her over. Guys be gallantly chivalrous but resolute. Ladies be artfully coy but consenting. **
Our guest instructors, Karina Romero and Jorge Carmona led a dynamic lesson of traditional Tango. They will continue teaching us the Tango state of mind, attitude and art of the dance.
Our secret is simplicity over complexity, improves your personal technique, command over your steps, dignified self-image, and Tango etiquette. Even first-timers overcome any initial trepidations and feel like they fit right in all along.
It is worth restating, all of you have developed your own unique individuality and personal style, that belongs to you. It is all yours. Claim it and name it. This is the beauty of Tango.
