TERRI's FIREHOUSE TANGO-MILONGA II
MESSAGE FROM TERRI
TANGO HAIKU: There is a saying that tango is a 'sad thought danced.' But that's only part of it. It's touching the sadness in you, the pain, yes--but also the joy, the humor, the everything life has. It's touching everything.” ~ Jennifer Vandiver
To all of our First-Timers, All-Timers, and Yet to Attend-Timers:
Thursday nights together with us is carefully designed with all of you in mind.
Both for the well seasoned dancers and for the rest of us. It is all about having fun, fashion and style!
I worked long and hard to develop the full combination of Tango spirit, fine music, professional instruction, live entertainment, beautiful glimmering hardwood dance floor, spacious venue, dancing Al-Fresco on our outdoor deck, dim-lit romantic ambiance, snack table, ample parking, convenient location that is about15 minutes from the GW Bridge, gallant gentlemen, elegant ladies, and a passion that
electrifies everyone upon entry.
Our members are friendly, classy, and the kind of people you'll look forward to meeting up with again every Thursday night.
Tango Report:
Our wonderful Milongueros and Milongueras continue to make it a happy and fun event.
Every one in attendance were top shelf. The ladies were elegant and classy. Our gentlemen were chivalrous and engaging. Even in these times quality outshines quantity every time.
We are the place to be every Thursday night without fail because our members make it a fun time. Remember, we consistently keep traditional Argentine Tango alive!
Try us out and feel it for yourself.
INFORMATION: Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez are proud of the progress all of you continue to make. You are picking up new moves, posture and making your own unique style. We all learn from each other. I love the comments I read online and from other places about all of you.
Our amazingly multi-talented DJ Javier Sanchez is the best in the business. His endless collection of a tireless variety of Tango composers and musicians energize the entire dance floor.
Stay tuned -- I will be scheduling him soon to perform with his trio for our entertainment and dancing pleasure.
Group lessons: All skill levels are taught by Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez every Thursday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
NEW STUFF:
Each week, Javier Sanchez will feature a different Artist for your enjoyment. This week he will feature the timeless compositions of Carlos Di Sarli.
More about the artist in our Tango Tutor.
This will improve upon your Tango smarts for light discussion.
TANGO TUTOR:
I have restarted this tutorial to help us become more conversant on the topic. I have included terminology, history, and factoids to expand your Tango knowledge.
Tango is not only about learning steps, but understanding and listening to the music.
Each artist interprets the same music /song that you dance to, but the musical styles are different.
Your ear, needs to listen so that you can dance to each interpretation from those artists elegantly.
It is written all over the place that the best way to improve your dancing is to know the music you are dancing to as your body moves with the different styles, so that you may look and be lead gracefully on the dance floor. ("you are not robots")
Carlos Di Sarli January 7, 1903 - January 12, 1960 born in the town of Bahia Blanca, was an Argentine tango musician, orchestra leader, composer and pianist.
Before he started his own orchestra he played in Osvaldo Fresedo's orchestra.
He developed smooth, clear sounding arrangements which his Orchestra Tipica recorded 27 albums and 512 recordings are reported.
Some recordings you may recognize:
Cicatrices, En un beso la vida, Piensalo bien.
Bahia Blanca, dedicated to the town he was born.

+++ Need I say it? Worth repeating, Tango is non-judgmental. We are not "paused" simply because we met all of the State mandated criteria to operate.
We operate safely because we adhere to suggested guidelines. All are welcome to join us.
So be respectful of all those who make personal choices to participate and equally to those who make personal choices not to. Everyone just do your own thing. +++
If you missed this week, try not to miss out next week. We are full of exciting surprises. Our system is working well, thanks to all of you.
