TERRI's FIREHOUSE TANGO-MILONGA II
MESSAGE FROM TERRI
Terri's Tango Haiku: "We dance to seduce ourselves. To fall in love with ourselves. When we dance with another, we manifest the very thing we love about ourselves so that they may see it and love us too."-Kamand Kojouri
To all of our First-Timers, All-Timers, and Yet to Attend-Timers:
Thursday nights together with us is carefully designed with all of you in mind.
I prepare the full combination of Tango spirit, fine music, professional instruction, live entertainment, beautiful glimmering hardwood dance floor, spacious venue, dancing Al-Fresco on our outdoor deck, dim-lit romantic ambiance, snack table, ample parking, convenient location that is about15 minutes from the GW Bridge, gallant gentlemen, elegant ladies, and a passion that electrifies everyone upon
entry.
Also, we are the place where "Tango Etiquette" is ever present.
RECOGNITION MESSAGE:
Let's pause for the cause and acknowledge our friends visiting from out of the country and from NYC who chose to join us every Thursday night.
They brought a wonderful Tango mixture of East European flair, Latin-American passion, and touch of Hollywood, here with us, all in one place!
A Big Terri's Tango-Milonga II embrace to the gallant Jakof Shonsky from Tango Academy, Tiblisi, Georgia.
The vivacious Ruth Valeria-Hernandez-Aravena, the "Maestra of Tango" visiting us from Chile.
The gracefully elegant Victoria Cudro and the First Gentleman of Tango Paul Pellicoro, Instructors from Dance-Sport, Mid-Town Manhattan.
Love and hugs to all of our dedicated member Milongueros and Milongueras who bring class, character and Tango-Etiquette, making us the fun place to be every Thursday night!
Tango Report:
We took out a few minutes to introduce and to personally acknowledge these fine people. I presented them each with a bright Red Rose, followed by a Champaign toast.
Our dynamic instructors Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez were back to teach the group class.
We celebrated two birthdays. Analia Carreno and Ruth Valera-Hernandez Aravena's birthday.
Ruth's Birthday was the surprise I kept hush-hush because her sister Soledad wanted to sing a tango birthday song for her.
She stunned us with captivating vocals and sang with such love and feeling that everyone reacted with shouts "otra"-"otra", leaving everyone wanting more. It was a beautifully executed surprise. So disappointed there is no recording for us to enjoy. It was pure joy.
The cakes brought by Analia and Soledad were scrumptious and not a morsel was left.
The birthday dance was perfect. Two rows of our gallant gentlemen lined up to dance with these wonderfully elegant ladies.
All in attendance continue to be top shelf. Our ladies simply ooze class. Our gentlemen are chivalrous and exceedingly engaging.
Just goes to show that even in these times quality outshines quantity every time.
Music and laughter are the sounds filling the air every Thursday night we enjoy most.
Of course we add a variety of music to dance to in our Tandas. They all range from Salsa, Mambo, Merengue and social style dance, but we are loyal to our roots.
Remember, here is where we consistently keep traditional Argentine Tango alive!
Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez, resumed with the popular group lessons that they provide every week.
We all continue to learn from each other. I love the comments I read online and from other places about all of you.
Enjoy the end of the class demonstration videos:
MILONGA:
DJ Jack Hanley returned and completely rocked the house.. again. The music was electrifying and brought everyone to their feet. No one wanted to go home. We went on longer than usual. Even Cinderella stayed past mid-night! Next week, I expect search parties looking for some of you.
Group lessons: All skill levels are taught by Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez every Thursday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. We try to start the class on time and give those of you who want to take the group lesson to settle in.
NEW STUFF:
I have included terminology, history, and factoids to expand your Tango knowledge.
Tango is not only about learning steps, but understanding and listening to the music.
Each artist interprets the same music /song that you dance to, but the musical styles are different.
Your ear, needs to listen so that you can dance to each interpretation from those artists elegantly.
It is written all over the place that the best way to improve your dancing is to know the music you are dancing to as your body moves with the different styles, so that you may look and be lead gracefully on the dance floor. ("you are not robots")
TANGO TERMS In Buenos Aires "ll" or y" is pronounced "zh" almost an English "j
a "qu"sounds like the "c" in cat;
a "z" is pronounced like "c:'
Tango steps:
Enrosque:(en-ross-hay) From enroscar--to coil or twist; a corkscrew. While the lady dances a molinete, the man pivots on his supporting foot, hooking or coiling his working leg behind or around in front of his supporting leg.
+++ Need I say it? Worth repeating, Tango is non-judgmental. We are not "paused" simply because we met all of the State mandated criteria to operate.
We operate safely because we adhere to suggested guidelines. All are welcome to join us.
So be respectful of all those who make personal choices to participate and equally to those who make personal choices not to. Everyone just do your own thing. +++
INSTRUCTORS REPORT:
Not only is everyone's skill level improving but also your attitude, posture, and individuality is shining through as well.
Where ever you go to dance your own unique style will be evident and noticed. Bravo. Keep up the good work. The lessons are paying off for all of you.
Naturally, every instructor has their own style and methodologies. What works and what sticks with you is all that counts.
I gently recommend every level of skill set to come by and try the lesson. You will enjoy it. Also, not only does it sharpen your skills but we all learn from each other, be it style, rhythm or Tango attitude. Sharing is caring.
Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez, are available for private lessons.
**The dance hall is available to us exclusive every Thursday. We are offering private, one on one lessons, by appointment. Call me for details. **
**We have it ALL under one Tango roof. Be sure to call me to get your name on the Instructors list to book a private lesson for you before the group lesson.**
BRAGGING RIGHTS:
