MESSAGE FROM TERRI:
Terri's Tango Haiku:
El Flaco Dany Garcia:
"The music goes in my ears, is filtered through my heart, and comes out through my feet."
To all of our First-Timers, All-Timers, and Yet to Attend-Timers
I hope you had a wonderful weekend
4th of July, remembering our fallen heroes and embracing our friends and families.
My Report:
I prepare the full combination of Tango spirit, fine music, professional instruction, live entertainment, beautiful glimmering hardwood dance floor, spacious venue, dancing Al-Fresco on our outdoor deck, dim-lit romantic ambiance, snack table, ample parking, convenient location that is about15 minutes from the GW Bridge, gallant gentlemen, elegant ladies, and a passion
that electrifies everyone upon entry.
Also, we are the place where "Tango Etiquette" is ever present.
RECOGNITION REPORT:
Our dear friend DJ Jack Hanley, rocked the night away. His music mixology put to the pedal to the metal.
He had everyone on their feet dancing all night. Jack joined us on the dance floor every time he was able.
There was no shortage of compliments about his command of music and inspiring Tandas that kept us dancing the entire evening till lights out.
DJ Jack Hanley will return soon as his rotation schedule permits. Thank you again.
Compliments to our members: At Terri's Firehouse Tango-Milonga II, our ladies simply ooze class. Our gentlemen are gallant and exceedingly engaging.
We are the place where Tango Etiquette is natural.
We prove it every time. Despite these challenging times, our quality outshines quantity every time.
Music and laughter are the sounds filling the air every Thursday night we enjoy most. We have a fun loving crowd.
Imitation is the fondest form of flattery: We add adobo and sofrito to spice up our Tandas. Our Tandas always include a variety of Salsa, Mambo, Merengue and social style dance to keep you on the floor. Yet, we consistently remain loyal to our roots.
Remember, here is where we always keep traditional Argentine Tango alive!
Group lessons: All skill levels are taught by Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez every Thursday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. We try to start the class on time and give those of you who want to take the group lesson to settle in.
NEW STUFF:
I have included terminology, history, and factoids to expand your Tango knowledge.
Tango is not only about learning steps, but understanding and listening to the music.
Each artist interprets the same music /song that you dance to, but the musical styles are different.
Your ear, needs to listen so that you can dance to each interpretation from those artists elegantly.
It is written all over the place that the best way to improve your dancing is to know the music you are dancing to as your body moves with the different styles, so that you may look and be lead gracefully on the dance floor. ("you are not robots")
TANGO TERMS In Buenos Aires "ll" or y" is pronounced "zh" almost an English "j
a "qu"sounds like the "c" in cat;
a "z" is pronounced like "c:'
Tango steps:
SALIDA (sah-lee-dah) From salir-to exit: to go out . Commonly known as the basic figure in tango. It serves as an entrance or exit to many other figures and movements.
Courtesy Corner: Common courtesy, good manners and tango etiquette always go a long way in making and keeping friends. What happens at Terri's Firehouse Tango - Stays in Terri's Firehouse Tango!
INSTRUCTORS REPORT:
Everyone's skill level is clearly improving but also evident are your attitude, posture, and individuality. It is shining through as well. Bravo!
Where ever you go to dance your own unique style will be evident and noticed.
Keep up the good work. The lessons are paying off for all of you.
Naturally, every instructor has their own style and methodologies. What works and what sticks with you is all that counts.
I gently recommend every level of skill set to come by and try the lesson. You will enjoy it. Also, not only does it sharpen your skills but we all learn from each other, be it style, rhythm or Tango attitude. Sharing is caring.
Analia Carreno and Luis Ramirez, are available for private lessons.
